How Do I Become A Member?

Step 1: Complete the online membership application. If you are unable to complete the online application, there are paper applications available at the church office.

Step 2: Attend one of our Inquirer's Classes. Our classes help you learn more about Oak Mountain Church and are held one Saturday every six weeks or so. The Inquirer's Class is from 8:30 AM - Noon in Room S-185. This class is led by our Senior Pastor, Bob Flayhart and our Pastor for Newcomers and Outreach, Jason Tucker. Childcare is available for nursery and elementary age children. To participate in this class please register for the class online and complete the application. For information on upcoming Inquirer's Classes, please contact Sheryl Heen.

Step 3: Complete a Membership Interview.  To schedule an interview, please contact Sheryl Heen.

Step 4: Take membership vows scheduled during Oak Mountain's worship service, usually offered on the first Sunday of every month.  Oak Mountain Church's membership vows are as follows:

  • Do you acknowledge yourselves to be sinners in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope except in His sovereign mercy?
  • Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, a Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone for salvation as He is offered in the Gospel?
  • Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as is becoming to the followers of Christ?
  • Do you promise to support the Church in its worship and work to the best of your ability?
  • Do you submit yourselves to the government and discipline of the Church, and promise to study its purity and peace?

If you have any questions about becoming a member or the membership classes, call the church office at 205.995.9265 or email Jason Tucker, Pastor of Newcomers and Outreach
