Great question. We recognize that for some, arriving at a new place with unfamiliar faces can be a little unnerving. That is why our Newcomers Team seeks to provide you with multiple opportunities to connect with our church body in smaller, more personal settings, some of these opportunities are as follows.
- Inquirer's Class - This class provides an opportunity to get to know a few of our members while hearing the "nuts and bolts" of what makes Oak Mountain Church tick. This class is offered in two formats.
- Sunday School - Our Sunday morning Inquirer's Class meets at 10:30 every Sunday morning and covers a total of 4 lessons each month. We cover the 1st lesson on the 1st Sunday of the month, the 2nd lesson on the 2nd Sunday and so on. This class is led by our Pastor for Newcomers and Outreach, Jason Tucker.
- Saturdays from 8:30-Noon - Every six weeks or so, we offer our complete Inquirer's Class in one stop on a Saturday morning. We cover the same ground as our Sunday morning class. This class is led by our Senior Pastor, Bob Flayhart and our Pastor for Newcomers and Outreach, Jason Tucker. Childcare is available for nursery and elementary age children. For information on upcoming Inquirer's Classes, please contact Sheryl Heen.

- LIFE! Groups
- LIFE! Groups are Oak Mountain's small groups which meet on Sunday evenings at 5:30 PM. Typically our LIFE! Groups meet in members homes while childcare is provided at the church through Kids Quest. For those newer among us, our Senior Pastor, Bob Flayhart, leads a group which meets at the church in Room C-242. This group is a great opportunity to meet Bob along with several other members and visitors. The format includes a light meal together, a brief discussion of that morning's sermon that includes an opportunity to ask questions. The remainder of the time is then spent together discussing the book of Galatians. For more information regarding our Newcomer's LIFE! Group, please contact Jason Tucker.
- Newcomer Meals
- Wednesday Night Dinners - On a regular basis throughout the year our Senior Pastor, Bob Flayhart, and his wife open up their home to recent Oak Mountain visitors. These dinners are a great opportunity to connect with members and others who are new to Oak Mountain Church. Typically we meet from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Childcare for nursery and elementary age children is available at the church. For more information on upcoming dinners or to RSVP, please contact Sheryl Heen.
- Sunday Lunches - Occasionally throughout the year we will host luncheons on Sundays, immediately following our second worship service. These lunches are designed to give visitors an opportunity to meet members of our pastoral staff. Childcare for nursery and elementary age children is available. For information on upcoming luncheons or to RSVP, please contact Sheryl Heen.
