On Tuesday nights in Room S-180 at 7 PM, we'll be doing an in-depth study of the Westminster Confession of Faith. This class is open to both men and women, and is a requirement for potential church officers. For more information, contact Tom Patton.
“Theology matters a great deal! And, it is intensely practical.
A person’s understanding of who God is and how one relates to Him will dramatically affect the way that person lives out the Christian life. If one believes that God the Father is a benevolent Sovereign, that person will most likely serve Him with joy and honor. Conversely, one who has wrong assumptions about the character and nature of God may try to hold Him off at arm’s distance out of fear and misconceptions.
Over 350 years ago, the Westminster Divines spent 5-years developing the Confession of Faith – a summary document of the major doctrines taught in Scripture. It remains today as one of the great touchstone summaries of Biblical doctrine.
This theology class is a survey course of the Westminster Confession of Faith. This lecture series is intended to encourage you in your theological understanding and also the intensely practical implications of these doctrines, as the Westminster was written to protect and guide the church. May this class help guide and protect you. May it lead you to know a great deal about God so that you have great energy for God. May it also lead you to great thoughts about God so that you might show great boldness for God (J.I. Packer).
