Ephesians: God's Great Mystery and Masterpiece Revealed: In Christ, In His Church

Taught by Nancy Carroll (Tuesdays 9:30-11:30 AM)

"It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for."
Ephesians 1:11 The Message

Paul knew there was so much more (Eph 3:20) to this life and prayed we’d believe it and become who we really are in Christ. Discover your destiny in Ephesians, “the crown and climax of Pauline theology.” Paul reveals God’s great mystery of what it means to be in Christ and in the Church. In the first three chapters, Paul reveals who we are: his masterpieces, his princesses. In the final three chapters, he calls us to live out our royal reality in this all-too real world of relationships. In this 11-week study, you’ll have daily devotional time in this rich book and weekly teaching and small group interaction. Taught by Nancy Carroll. Cost of notebook $10.

Idol Addiction 101...

...facing the realities of our false gods with the truths of scripture and the power of genuine community

"I don't really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don't do it. Instead I do what I hate."
Paul

Taught by Julie Sparkman and others (Tuesdays 9:30-11:30 AM)

Addiction is the stubborn pull back to the old ways we attempt to control our lives (and others), numb our pain, and make life work apart from God.  It is neither new, nor is it confined to a certain sub-set of believers.  We are all in need of much more than a little help in overcoming our besetting patterns.  We need a life-transforming rescue!  Join us as we face together our individual idols, our personal powerlessness to overcome them, and the radical power contained in the truths of the gospel to set us free. Taught by Julie Sparkman and others. Cost of notebook $7.

A Praying Life: Connecting with God in a Distracting World

by Paul Miller

Led by Sandi York, Linda Barrett, and Ginny Yates (Tuesdays 9:30-11:30 AM and 6:30-8:30 PM)

Finally – there’s a book for badly praying Christians. Reading A Praying Life, you'll learn how to become like a child running to your Father, with your distractions and all. You'll learn how to ask Him for anything. Paul Miller's insights into cynicism will reshape your asking and your faith that undergirds your asking. By living in Miller's stories of unanswered prayer, you will learn and watch and anticipate the story God is weaving in your life. We will practically apply some of these rock solid principles in small-group prayer as well. Led by Sandi York, Linda Barrett, and Ginny Yates. This is a 12-week study. Cost of book is $16.

A Journey Through the Gospels

Taught by Bridget Beasley (Tuesdays 9:30-11:30 AM)

Come rediscover the Jesus you fell in love with through the account of his life here on earth.  As seen and recorded for us in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  Let his wisdom, power and words come alive and off the page, as we revisit the word of God in the gospels.  Bring a study Bible, (Spirit of the Reformation or ESV preferred) and an open heart. This is a free study (no cost).

Tuesday Nights 6:30-8:30 PM (beginning September 7)

The Prodigal God: Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith

by Tim Keller

"One of the signs that you may not grasp the unique, radical nature of the gospel
is that you are certain that you do." Tim Keller

Led by Tara Powell (Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 PM)

During this book study, we will seek to glean insights from each of the characters in Jesus’ parable: the irreligious younger son, the moralistic elder son, and the father who lavishes his love on both. Tim Keller uses the parable we have come to call "The Prodigal Son" to look not just at the younger brother but to consider deeply the older brother. He also expands the use of "prodigal" from "wayward" to two other definitions: "recklessly extravagant and having spent everything". Through the parable and these definitions we identify ourselves (be it younger or older brother) and draw near to our Prodigal God.  Led by Tara Powell. This is an 8-week book study. Cost of book $12.

Raising a Generation of Peacemakers

The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict by Ken Sande

Led by Mikki O’Neil (Wednesdays 9:30-11:30 AM)

In this class we will be learning how to teach and train our children to rely on God to put off natural reactions when conflict arises. By viewing conflict as an opportunity to glorify God, serve others, and grow to be more like Christ, we can encourage practiced responses that promote peace and reconciliation. I hope that as we grow in Christ, we can begin to use the valuable tools of Peacemaking ourselves, and in turn teach our children to respond to conflict in reasonable, responsible, and biblical ways. Come join us as we WALTZ through The Peacemaker materials together. Led by Mikki O’Neil. This is a 12-week study. Cost of book $15.  There is a limited nursery available for this study. Please contact Robin McCracken to reserve a spot for your child(ren).
